It's 2011. I'm getting married this year.
What a strange thought. Who knew that I'd be able to find someone who could put up with my nonsense? Let alone find someone who produces just as much nonsense as I do. And we love each other. I guess that's pretty important too. The point is, I did find that special someone (awwwwwww), and along with our shared love for nonsense, goofiness and haberdasheries, we also share a love for film. That love, and it being the start of a new year, led me to thievery.
A co-worker of mine described to me something he did back in 2009. He told himself that he would watch 150 movies over the span of a year and write one or two quick sentences about them. A summarized thought, if you will. They weren't always informative, and they weren't always anything, but they were always there.
So myself (Cody) and my significant lady friend (Kari) are going to do just that. I'm not going to set a goal, and I'm not going to limit myself in the length of my thoughts on the film, although, that may end up happening if I find it more fitting. As Kari happens to be of the opposite sex, our opinions are sure to differ greatly in many instances. This both intrigues and frightens me.
I want this to be a fun experience for both of us, but as my co-worker said of the experience: "Please stop bothering me and get back to work.", so I'm sure it will end up straining our patience and testing the very tethers that bond our cornucopia of love into a tightly weaved web of terrible metaphors.
So here's to you, 2011. We're going to watch a bunch of movies in you.
